International Free & Accepted Modern Masons and Order of the Eastern Star, Incorporated was founded in 1950 by William V. Banks, a young prominent attorney in Detroit, Michigan. He believed that all men and women should have the opportunity to practice Freemasonry regardless of his or her station in life. He also, believed in the advancement of his race through education and vocational training.
Under Dr. Bank's leadership the organization established a Business College and Barbering School and purchased a television and radio station (WGPR/44) in Detroit, Michigan.
After Dr. Bank's death in 1986, George Mathews of Niagra Falls, a Comptroller for Union Carbide became the 2nd Supreme President and CEO, Under his leadership the organization continued to grow and became financially solvent by a multi-million dollar sell of the television station. Today, the organization is lead by its 3rd Supreme President, Ill. James O. Dogan, a successful business man and mortician from Greenville, SC.
International Masons Affiliation is realized and recognized in 28 United States, the Caribbean and Africa.
